What is a HOCKEY HOUSE LEAGUE?
The in-house program will introduce, instruct, and encourage the sport of ice hockey to our newest players and their families. The ultimate goal is to introduce the exhilarating sport of hockey, skating and game situation in a fun and productive manner.
Who:
The developmental House league training program provides an opportunity for those enrolled or previously enrolled in the W.S.A.- I Skate Basic Skill Program or comparable learn-to-skate, to improve their hockey skills and apply them to a game situation. We will guide skaters that have not had skating instruction to the correct program based upon their current skating skills through an on-ice assessment.
What:
The Wooster In-House league will convene typically once a week, meeting on the weekend.
Once a basic understanding of hockey has been achieved, games will be played at the Alice Noble Ice Arena or travel to locally each week. This is designed as an introductory step to the training and excitement of ice hockey. The league will operate in two 8-week sessions; September to December and January to March. Dates to be determined. In addition, this will serve as the bridge program into the Wooster Youth Hockey Association's travel teams for those who are interested.
Coaches:
With the aid of Coach Hart the House League will work with Mike Huffman and the Jr. "A" Wooster Oilers and parents of participants as its volunteer coaching staff.
Participants:
Participants will be divided into two groups of players with the potential of adding a third group. Group A: players 4 to 8 years old and Group B: 9 to 10 plus years of age. |
