Summer Camp
Alice Noble Ice Arena is proud to offer Summer Camp for the youth of Wooster. Our camp is for students entering Kindergarten up to sixth grade. It is our goal to provide a safe, nurturing environment for your child. We hope to engage them in new activities, an experience that will make for a fun filled summer.
Location is everything, and we are lucky to have access to many facilities with in walking distance to our Arena. Summer of 2012 we be utilizing the new hiking trail at Oak Hill Park. Oak Hill Park will provide us with a new place to exercise, picnic and just enjoy nature. We will also be walking to the High School tennis courts for basic tennis lessons and games on the court twice a week. This is a great way for children to get exposure to a new sport. Campers will have the opportunity to swim three days a week at the Ellen Shapiro Natatorium inside Wooster High School. Weather permitting, we will offer a water activity on the days we do not swim inside. Our sports options don't end with tennis, swimming, and hiking. We will also offer basketball at the Gault fitness center, kickball, badminton, and obstacle courses to keep our campers engaged in activities.
One of our new activities for the summer of 2012 is a sewing circle. This is open to any camper who would like to participate. The instructor will guide the campers with simple projects twice a week.
Our summer campers will plant and weed our own vegetable and flower garden on our grounds. Vegetables that are harvested will be used for our lunches and cooking classes. We will have a weekly cooking class. Recipe will be kid friendly and our chefs will get to sample their own creations.
We will take weekly trips to the Wayne County Library, as well as take part in the special events they offer. Campers may bring their own library cards to check out books if the wish to. We will have one off site field trip per week. They will be posted as arrangements are confirmed. We will also have playground time at Freelander Park and Kean on a weekly basis. Applications for Summer Camp 2012 are now being accepted. They are available both on the web and at the Arena. A typical week at summer camp and the special event that were held during the summer of 2011 are posted below.
